Nineteen minutes to fill...
and there is no doubt in my little head what will happen!
I've another guest coming in town this evening, this time from Good Ole' Alabama. He's a former Rhodent - wait, I guess a Rhodent graduate, unlike most of my friends who attended Rhodes at one point. HAH - not really, but it is funny. I rubbed my ASS on that damn school seal...there's no way I would've made it.
This week, I hit the proverbial glass ceiling of working 9-5 and partying too much: Yesterday around 11 a.m. I thought I had a fever, pink eye and maybe a sinus infection. Within a half hour I was waiting at the minute clinic in Farragut and putting money down for antibiotics and nasal spray. NASAL spray for chrissake. I bought a neti pot, too, but after hearing a friend compare it to waterboarding, I'm going to have to grow some nuts before I pour saline through one nostril and out the other.
I took the rest of the afternoon off, and it was dreamy. So dreamy, in fact, I paid my bills, went to the bank, redeemed my free scoop of ice cream and watched Brokeback Mountain with Wendy. THAT was a good movie. I did giggle a little bit, like you do in third grade the first time you watch the boys' sex ed video, but the sexual tension! Wheeeew BOY! And with a backdrop of mountains in Wyoming? Tickled pink. Too bad I was a few years late on that water-cooler discussion...
I also was giggling cause I've been taking mucinex, per the nurse practicioner's instruction. I probably could've avoided the visit to the clinic all together had I started taking over-the-counter stuff earlier this week, but you know, I really don't like the way it makes me feel. I'll never forget taking cough meds with Dylan my freshman year and zoning out in front of the library for hoooours on end: that shit gets me fuuuucked up! And I don't even need to take the liquid stuff, or any more than the minimum dose. My pupils get big, I laugh a lot and feel like my head is a balloon. Thanks, Mister Dextromethorphan. You bring me giggles and a "clear" head when I should have neither.
And with that, the last 20 minutes of work are coming to a close! WeeeeeHAW!! Here's to the weekend, making dinosaur costumes, and long-distance love.
